Bintang Megamall originally opened in October 1996 under the name “Bintang Plaza.”

It was developed as one of the earliest major shopping complexes in Miri, helping establish the city as a shopping hub (especially for visitors from Brunei).

Later, after renovation and expansion including upgrades like a multi-storey car park and integration with a hotel, it was rebranded as “Bintang Megamall.”
